Batate Song/Saung is the one of the popular Konkani dish. This dish is simple to make with very basic ingredients like potato, onion etc. This can be served as side dish with dal rice, roti, dosa etc.

4-5 medium sized potatoes - boiled
2 onion chopped
a lime sized tamarind soaked in water
8 -10 bedagi red chillies
cooking oil - 3- 4 tbsp
1/4 th tsp asafoetida
salt to taste
