En este vídeo te llevo a descubrir uno de los tesoros más auténticos de Galicia: las Rías Altas, y en concreto la Ría de Cedeira, un rincón único de la costa norte de A Coruña. Frente al monte que domina la entrada de la ría, nos adentramos en un paisaje donde el mar Atlántico se abre paso hacia tierra firme creando un estuario lleno de vida, historia y tradición.

Las rías gallegas son valles fluviales inundados por el mar, auténticos pulmones marinos que combinan agua dulce y salada, generando un ecosistema de enorme riqueza biológica. En la de Cedeira se pueden observar praderas de algas, bancos de marisco como berberechos o almejas, y una gran variedad de aves marinas y limícolas que aprovechan la bajamar para alimentarse. Si tienes suerte, incluso es posible avistar delfines mulares o marsopas en aguas cercanas.

El vídeo muestra cómo la marea transforma por completo el paisaje: desde los bancos de arena que emergen en bajamar hasta las aguas tranquilas en pleamar que bañan playas como la de Vilarrube, una de las más hermosas y extensas de la zona. Todo ello rodeado de montes verdes y acantilados que son la seña de identidad de las Rías Altas.

Además de la biodiversidad, esta ría también refleja la cultura marinera gallega: la pesca artesanal, el marisqueo y la tradición de los percebeiros, que desde hace generaciones han convivido con el mar en equilibrio con la naturaleza. In this video, I take you to discover one of Galicia’s most authentic treasures: the Rías Altas, and more specifically the Ría de Cedeira, a unique spot on the northern coast of A Coruña. Facing the mountain that guards the entrance to the estuary, we explore a landscape where the Atlantic Ocean carves its way inland, creating a place full of life, history, and tradition.

Galician rías are drowned river valleys flooded by the sea — true marine lungs that combine freshwater and saltwater, generating an ecosystem of extraordinary biological richness. In Cedeira you can find seagrass meadows, shellfish banks such as cockles and clams, and a wide variety of seabirds and waders that take advantage of low tide to feed. With a bit of luck, you may even spot bottlenose dolphins or porpoises in nearby waters.

The video shows how the tide completely transforms the landscape: from the sandbanks that emerge at low tide to the calm waters of high tide that bathe beaches like Vilarrube, one of the most beautiful and extensive in the area. All of this is framed by green mountains and cliffs, the true hallmark of the Rías Altas.

Beyond biodiversity, this ría also reflects Galicia’s seafaring culture: artisanal fishing, shellfish harvesting, and the tradition of the percebeiros (goose barnacle gatherers), who have lived in balance with the sea for generations.
