Manchin: 'Putin has weaponized energy'

(7 Mar 2022) Sen. Joe Manchin is continuing his push to ban the import of Russian oil to the U.S.
The West Virginia Democrat says Russian President Vladimir Putin "has weaponized energy."
But he believes the U.S. can "offset" that by halting Russian oil imports in the U.S. by declaring a national emergency.
Last week, Manchin introduced a bipartisan bill to halt Russian oil imports to the U.S. It's something Biden could also do on his own. It has gained bipartisan support, including from leadership of the House Problem Solvers Caucus.
During a call with Congressional members this weekend, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged U.S. lawmakers to sanction Russia’s oil and gas sector and suspend credit card access, and backed the idea to ban Russian oil imports to the U.S.
