Morris Chang created the world's first dedicated silicon foundry, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, or TSMC. For this and other achievements he has been named a Stanford Engineering Hero. At a celebration co-organized by the Global Semiconductor Alliance, Chang, who holds a Stanford Ph.D., advises today's students that they will have to acquire not merely knowledge but also understanding to achieve the entrepreneurial mindset required to succeed.
