Bicycling Minnesota's Paul Bunyan Trail Day 1 Crow Wing State Park to Jenkins (September 22, 2025)

For many years, we have wanted to do a multi-day tour of the Paul Bunyan Trail. The goal someday is to do a tour of the whole trail and include the Heartland Trail, which would be a good 6-7 day tour for us. With three free days, we decided that a three-day tour would be better than nothing (much better actually) and we chose to do 60 miles of the southernmost section of the 115-mile Paul Bunyan Trail. We had never ridden the very southern section between Crow Wing State Park and Brainerd, and we want to cross that off our list also.

Our first day of riding was 38 miles from Crow Wing State Park to Jenkins, where we stayed at the AmericInn. As with most of the Paul Bunyan Trail, you are in the woods and have a nice remote feeling. The section through Brainerd is a bit convoluted, and you have to pay attention to the trail signs.
