It is with great sadness that Writers' Trust acknowledges the passing of The Honourable Hilary M. Weston C.M., C.V.O., O.Ont. Mrs. Weston was a visionary woman, a passionate patron of the arts, and has made an extraordinary impact on Canadian nonfiction writing through her support of the organization.
Her longstanding generosity, including her namesake Weston Prizes — the Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Nonfiction and Weston International Award, supported through The Hilary and Galen Weston Foundation — has helped Canadian writers thrive, and connect with audiences around the world.
Their success of the Weston Prizes is part of her legacy and will continue to inspire the literary community for years to come. We are deeply grateful for Mrs. Weston's unwavering commitment to Canadian literature. She will be profoundly missed.
