Magnus Carlsen SHOCKS Ben Finegold w/ AGGRESSIVE Caro-Kann Vs Alireza Firouzja! (Magnus Vs Alireza!)

Magnus Carlsen completely SHOCKED grandmaster Ben Finegold when he played Ben's signature move ...F6 in an aggressive line of the Caro-Kann vs Alireza Firouzja in the 2024 Julian Baer cup! Magnus Carlsen's decision to play Ben Finegold's move ...f6 in the Caro-Kann vs Firouzja was especially shocking because Magnus literally gave up his entire bishop on f6 when he played Ben Finegold's signature move!

In the game Alireza Firouzja is playing as White and he opens 1.e4 while Magnus Carlsen responds 1...c6 - the Caro-Kann Defense. From there Alireza goes for a very aggressive line with 3.e5 and 4.h4, while Magnus Carlsen responds with 4...c5, a move that I have never seen at the highest level! From there both Magnus Carlsen and Alireza Firouzja continue developing and increasing their control of the center of the board. However, the game really heats up when Magnus Carlsen violates Ben Finegold's advice and plays the move ...f6 vs Alireza, literally sacrficing his bishop in the process!

From there both sides continue going all-out vs each other, with Magnus attacking on the queenside and Alireza Firouzja doing his best to defend and counterattack on the kingside in this ultra-aggressive Caro-Kann opening. However, Magnus Carlsen got the last laugh by finishing off Alireza Firouzja (and shocking Ben Finegold in the process!) by playing the final few moves of this aggressive Caro-Kann game to absolute perfection!
