Residents of Odesa braved freezing temperatures and strong winds as they gathered along the city’s icy seafront, seeking moments of joy despite ongoing power cuts and the harsh winter. Ukraine is facing unusually cold weather this winter, compounded by rolling power outages caused by Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. Still, Odesa residents say the frozen landscape looks beautiful, even as the wind chill makes conditions tougher.
