In this hemisphere, this robot sumo competition gives a task to develop purpose driven technology such as how to deal with the magnetic sumo field. .....and they are off... two small pieces of machinery fighting in the centre of a circle.
Controlled by the amateur robotics enthusiasts and high school students that created them.. the aim is to push your opponent out of the ring.
This is the seventeenth 'All Japan Robot Sumo Competition' ...
All around the hall last minute adjustments are taking place ahead of the tournament.
The creators, however, do come in all shapes and sizes...
