Black Womanhood in History by Baba Imhotep Fatiu

Baba Imhotep Fatiu, founder and leader of PLM, presents Black Womanhood in History. This was formerly a DVD under the Afrikan Redemption Lecture Series. In this DVD, Baba Imhotep emphasizes the historical legacy of Black women as trailblazers, freedom fighters, and essential pillars of Black communities. It stresses the importance of understanding and embracing this heritage to combat ignorance and societal challenges.

The speaker highlights several historical figures, including Maria Stewart, Frances Harper, Fanny Jackson Coppin, Anna Julia Cooper, Ida B. Wells, Mary Church Terrell, Maggie Lena Walker, Annie Malone, and Mary McLeod Bethune. They exemplified intelligence, assertiveness, and a commitment to self-help, self-reliance, and self-preservation within a collective African context. The presentation urges contemporary Black women to emulate these historical models, prioritize education, and actively contribute to the advancement and liberation of their people by being race-conscious.
