I love this drawing lesson!
I use this lesson all the time and It always helps young artists to develop confidence in their drawing skills.
This simple drawing lesson explores one-point perspective to create an emotive image of a train shooting out of the paper. It looks really impressive but is super easy to learn and teach. It includes many areas of the art curriculum that your class should know, such as vanishing points, horizon lines, foreground and background. Plus it makes for amazing displays and your class will be buzzing because they have a drawing trick to show off.
I regularly run this art activity with Year 1 pupils (5 years old) all the way to adults and results are always great.
Once you have the drawing part sorted, you can take it forwards by colouring the image using a wide variety of materials, such as:
oil pastels
watercolours
charcoal and chalk
shading pencils
colouring pencils
felt tip pens
collage with tissue paper
