In this video the simple childhood pastime of sitting by the railway line and watching the trains pass by is portrayed here.
There are only goods trains today, each one is typical of what I saw as an eight year old passing along the Darlington to Saltburn line, passing to and from the steel industry along the south bank of the Tees.
Trenholme Junction, although a fictitious place, is built to represent the sort of railway you would have seen in the 1960's.
The long straights give the impression of distance. Trains appear as unrecognisable dot in the distance, slowly revealing their identity as they move towards you and then away into oblivion.
And the sixties carries on swinging...
