Embracing the Nordic Cold – A Winter Diary of Family & Wild Nature #47

❄️ Welcome to a new winter diary from the far north!
This week, I finally embraced the Nordic cold—stepping into the icy river, feeling the raw power of nature, and finding a rare moment to breathe. As a full-time mom, artist, and home renovator, these small moments of stillness mean so much.

We also made progress on our farmhouse renovation, setting in beautiful Italian tiles in the kitchen, and enjoyed the ever-changing winter landscape. The melting snow made outdoor work easier, but the children weren’t as happy about losing their winter wonderland. Still, we made the most of it—visiting the wild ocean and soaking in the fresh, salty air. I feel so grateful that raw nature is part of their daily life—and that they are growing up here.

As the Arctic light fades, I spend time capturing the northern lights—soon, the long summer days will return, and this magical glow will be gone for months.
