In the smallest town on the island of Elba, Marciana Marina is a real gem - Borgo Cotone. A wonderful corner, where from January to December, under the sun or under the clouds, envelops you with an enchanted atmosphere characteristic of precious things.
Marciana Marina is considered the smallest of the eight municipalities on the island and one of the smallest in Italy, with an area of only 5.75 square meters. km.
To the right of the Marciana Marina promenade is a real gem: Borgo al Cotone. Small stone paths gently make their way between the pastel-colored houses, decorated with numerous plants, which are looked after by residents. These paths inevitably lead to viewing platforms, from where, admiring the sea, you feel small and lost in the boundless space and time.
In the 16th century, the first inhabitants of Marciana Marina began to settle here. Mostly Ligurian and Neapolitan fishermen, when they came to work during the tuna season.
Between the 17th and 19th centuries, Borgo Cotone looked like a quiet village with modest colored houses and cellars for storing fish and excellent wine from grapes that were grown on the hills behind the village, old wooden doors with cute, homely, soulful images on ceramic wall plates, telling about the sea. Everywhere, clean and not real, almost intimate silence of the ancient atmosphere that all Borgo breathes.
All this is a small village called Cotton. A cozy corner that exists as a separate and independent world. With many stories of different people and generations born in a tiny bay, protected by a large granite rock with a tiny embankment, where old boats are still pulled out to dry from the sea.

В самом маленьком городке на острове Эльба в Марчиана-Марина есть настоящая жемчужина — Борго-Котоне. Чудесный уголок, который с января по декабрь, под солнцем или под облаками, окутан очаровательной атмосферой, свойственная драгоценным вещам.
Справа от набережной Марчиана-Марина находится настоящая жемчужина: Борго-аль-Котоне. Между домиками пастельных тонов мягко пробираются небольшие каменные дорожки, украшенные многочисленными растениями, за которыми ухаживают жители. Эти дорожки неизбежно ведут к смотровым площадкам, откуда, любуясь морем, чувствуешь себя маленьким и потерянным в бескрайнем пространстве и времени.
С 16 века здесь стали селиться первые жители Марчиана-Марины. В основном лигурийские и неаполитанские рыбаки, когда они приезжали на работу в сезон тунца.
Между 17 и 19 веками Борго-Котоне выглядел как тихая деревушка со скромными цветными домиками и погребами для хранения рыбы и отличного вина из винограда, который выращивали на холмах за деревней, старинными деревянными дверями с милыми, домашними, с душевными керамическими изображениями, рассказывающие о море. Везде чистота и ненастоящая, почти интимная тишина древней атмосферы, которой дышит весь Борго.
Все это небольшой поселок под названием Коттон. Уютный уголок, существующий как отдельный и независимый мир со множеством историй разных людей и поколений, рожденных в крохотной бухте, защищенной большой гранитной скалой с крохотной насыпью, где до сих пор вытаскивают на просушку из моря старые лодки.
