This video shows how to paint and weather model machinery in a few easy steps using paint, pigments and washes.
Many of our models, such as workshops and factories, need machinery if we want to model interiors. This machinery could be anything from textile looms to lathes but regardless of the type is normally painted green. It also gathers a patina of oil, dust, cotton and grime depending by on their location.
The Real World
For some reason, green seems to be the most popular colour for machinery although dark blue and maroon are also seen. Over the years, the machinery builds up a patina of wear, dust and grime that is very appealing to modellers.
