This is a video of how I installed my Garmin DashCam 46 onto my BMW X3 m40i and tap the power from my Dome light assembly. I entire process was easy once I figured how to remove the Dome light assembly. In the video I chose to solder the wire for power but you can use any wire tap terminal or connector.
The power connector I found that can support the and supply enough power to the DashCam was the red-orange wire with yellow stripe. Its the 3rd wire from the edge of the connector. It was able to maintain 12v with minimal drop. It also will turn off automatically after the car has been left alone for about 10 minutes. I was not able to find any other energize wire that would turn off any sooner.
