An Archon's Tale dives into the motives and drives of Venti and Zhong Li.

Lore of Venti and Zhong Li's Old Friends

Venti's
The nameless bard was a boy who lived in Old Mondstadt 2,600 years ago, during the time of Decarabian's reign. He befriended the wind spirit who would eventually become Barbatos, the Anemo Archon of The Seven, and Barbatos' vessel Venti was made in his image.
The nameless bard led the rebellion against Decarabian with the help of the wind spirit, Decarabian's former lover Amos, a knight (possibly Gunnhildr), and a red-haired warrior. The bard were mortally wounded in battle and never got the chance to see the world beyond the tower's walls; the bard lived long enough to see Decarabian's fall, propped up in the red-haired warrior's arms with the wind spirit by his side.

Zhong Li's
Guizhong (Chinese: 归终 Guīzhōng) was the God of Dust and one of the two gods who presided over Guili Plains prior to the outbreak of the Archon War, alongside her dear friend, the God of Geo later known as Morax (known as Zhong Li now).
Her final moments were also amongst the Glaze Lilies. There, she wore one last smile, albeit a lonely one. Her last request to Zhongli was to forget about the stone dumbbell (Memory of Dust Catalyst) from the first time they met, only to reannounce her challenge with her final words being cut off.
