The Richford train depot is living out it's final days next to the CP Newport subdivision. This station was built in 1881 and replaced an even older station that unfortunately had burned down. The top floor was cut off in 1944 and the dormers removed around 1980.
This station has seen CP, Vermont Northern, MMA, CMQ and CPKC trains pass by here in it's 144 years. It is sad that it fell into disrepair and now is facing the only safe option of demolition. It's too far gone for restoration at this point.
On December 21st 2025 I made my way up to what will probably be my last time seeing this station in person. I took a ton of photos and a video circling around it. I even climbed inside where it looked safe to do so and got a few photos I have been wanting to try for a while. Unfortunately it is too unstable to explore anything more than the bay windows room and a very small portion of the Record room by the open door. I am pretty light and nimble and probably could get around the entire building but in abundance of caution I choose to not go far inside. I found lots of old papers from the Early 1990s with tons of info on trains and various car numbers that passed by here. Unfortunately almost all of the papers were very destroyed by water and mouse so not worth attempting to save. Only one stack of unwritten papers and a single other paper with some train info from 1991was worth
Unfortunately the station was demolished a few days ago
