BARN FIND Ducati 750 Supersport SS - What am I going to do with it?? Restoration ??

This is a 1994 Ducati 750 SuperSport — a forgotten hero of 1990s Italian motorcycling, and somehow… I got this one for free. 🏍️🇮🇹

While the world was losing its mind over the revolutionary, liquid-cooled Ducati 916, the air-cooled SuperSport quietly carried on doing what Ducati had always done best: delivering character, handling, and mechanical honesty. The 750SS wasn’t built to dominate spec sheets — it was built for riders who valued feel over figures.

At the heart of the 750 SuperSport sits a 748cc, two-valve, 90-degree L-twin, producing around 66 horsepower. On paper that doesn’t sound dramatic — but on the road, it’s all about torque delivery, throttle response, and that unmistakable Desmodromic Ducati soundtrack. Unlike the louder, more aggressive 900SS with its dry clutch, the 750 uses a wet clutch, making it smoother, quieter, and arguably the better real-world road bike.

Back in 1994, this was the attainable Ducati.
The flagship 916 cost serious money, but the 750 SuperSport offered that Ferrari-on-two-wheels experience for a fraction of the price — and became a huge success for Ducati during one of the most important eras in the brand’s history.

Compared to Japanese rivals like the Honda CBR600 or Kawasaki Ninja, the 750SS was slower, more demanding, and far less forgiving. The riding position is committed, the turning circle is laughable, and it asks more of the rider. But that’s exactly why people loved it. While the Japanese bikes felt like efficient appliances, the Ducati felt alive — with premium Brembo brakes, Showa suspension, a lightweight trellis frame, and a level of feedback that modern bikes rarely offer.

Today, the 1994 Ducati 750 SuperSport is a genuine modern classic. It’s simple, loud, mechanical, and unapologetically analogue. A bike that still turns heads, still sparks conversations, and still demands your full attention every time you ride it.

But this video isn’t just about history…

Despite its very low mileage, this bike is in poor condition and hasn’t been used for over 13 years. I don’t know what’s wrong with it, I don’t have the keys, and I’m not about to pour fuel into it and hope for the best. This isn’t one of those internet resurrection videos where engines are destroyed for views.

Instead, the plan is a proper nut-and-bolt restoration.

While I wait for my new workshop to be built, I’ll be carefully stripping, inspecting, and rebuilding this SuperSport the right way — documenting everything along the way. Something serious may have happened for this bike to be abandoned and ultimately given away… and I want to find out exactly what.
