In the days when Logic was a sophisticated MIDI sequencer but not yet a fully-spec’d DAW, there was a wonderful window called the Hyper Editor. This let you create Lanes of MIDI Controller data which would send messages to your MIDI hardware in a primitive form of what we now mostly cover via Automation. The Hyper Editor has (unfortunately) been renamed the Step Editor but that doesn’t mean it can’t still be a lot of fun. In this episode, I’m going to show you how it works using an example with an Alchemy patch. But I’ll also explain how you could go further, if this approach to MIDI Sequencing appeals to you.
