“Hungarian Dance No. 1” was performed by NUS Guitar Ensemble for Ephemeral, recorded in NUS University Town Dance Atelier 2, Singapore, on 12 October 2024.
Originally composed for piano four hands, Hungarian Dance is a collection of dances based on Hungarian folk songs. Featuring fast, complicated scalic passages and characterised by its variations in tempo and complemented with sudden and dramatic changes in dynamics, “Hungarian Dance No. 1” is a lively, energetic work with a dramatic flair.

NUS Guitar Ensemble (GENUS) is a student-run guitar ensemble located in the National University of Singapore, and a member of NUS Centre For the Arts. With an over 40-year-long history, the group boasts a wide repertoire ranging from major classical works to Japanese anime themes.
