Character Design is an important but underappreciated part of any media that uses animation and CGI, and VFX artists can often be blamed for what was merely the fault of the original design. And Cats 2019 is a perfect example of what happens when it goes wrong. So, in order to examine this, it's time to compare it to the 1998 stage show version, which does a far better job of getting its characters across through their impressive costumes.
