NEARLY 1200 MOTORCYCLES attended the A REASON TO RIDE FUNDRAISER. With the American Flag flying high from a Plainfield Fire Co. #1 ladder truck, motorcycles departed the Plainfield VFW on Windsor Avenue in Plainfield at exactly 12 noon for the 27th annual A Reason To Ride, Inc. Motorcycle Run. With sunny skies and warm temperatures the turnout was amazing. Once a year riders come together to do a motorcycle run to raise money for needy veterans. The money is used to help needy veterans whether it be for fuel oil, rent, electric bills, and hardship events from life's challenges. This one event per year normally raises tens of thousands of dollars. The riders lined up their bikes in organized rows in anticipation of the start at 12 noon. Traffic was stopped and spectators set up lawn chairs all along the route to watch and wave as the procession of motorcycles, which was miles long, passed by. The ride received an escort by CT State Police and the riders returned to the Plainfield VFW for live music, food and fellowship. The all volunteer group accepts donations throughout the year.
