🐙 Octopus Grabs My Leg Before I Even Dive! | Winter Spearfishing in Thasos Island 🇬🇷

🏝️ On this special spearfishing adventure, I’m traveling to the Greek island of Thasos with my buddies Alex and Panos. Our plan is to explore at least two fishing spots over the weekend, hoping to make the most of the weather and the sea, despite some challenges along the way.

🌊 Day one kicks off with rough conditions: Rainy weather, strong gusts, and high waves, but the visibility is decent. I quickly land the first white seabream of the day, getting the session off to a solid start. Later, a perch gives away a hidden octopus, and with Panos’ help, we carefully bring it to the surface. While ambushing among the rocks, I catch a brown meagre and spot a few dentex in the distance. With the storm approaching, I take a grey mullet before wrapping up a challenging but rewarding first day.

🐙 On day two, the skies clear and the sea is calm at a beautiful rocky spot. Even before entering the water, an octopus wraps around my leg. Definitely one of the highlights of the adventure! Diving in, we encounter large schools of striped seabream, and I quickly secure one. With small fish acting nervous, I sense predators nearby and hold off on more shots.

🐟 We take turns setting up ambushes, and soon dentex and a gilthead seabreams make an appearance. Moving to a shallower area, grey mullets are active, and I quickly land one with Alex’s help. On the way back, an amberjack brings the perfect finale to our spearfishing adventure.

🔱 Spearfishing in Thasos, Greece was an amazing experience despite the challenges. Great catches, beautiful scenery, and unforgettable moments with friends. We can’t wait to come back later this season and explore even more spearfishing spots!
