El Dorado ICBU 2007 Release Special "Cricket Edition"

The single still trio of El Dorado’s cricket-bat-shaped bottles first released in 2007 is hard to find these days, and more worth looking at for historical value than serious drinking. This one is from the French Savalle Still and was issued in 2007 when the Cricket World Cup held a few matches in Guyana.

Additional Notes:

[1] In my original review, I wrote that Ignatius Christian Bonner of Uitvlugt was once the owner of the estate, though I no longer have the source for this. Other sources give the name as Ignatius Charles Bourda” (Bourda is also a neighborhood of Georgetown, the capital, and has a famous market of that name located there. The best resource remains Mark Freyer’s work on the Plantations of British Guyana, which notes one of the original owners as being Iohann Christian Boode. I’d go with his work since his research is always top notch. It’s entirely possible that all names are the same person, forgotten, changed and corrupted through the centuries.

[2] To clarify, when I say this was the first single still edition from Guyana, I mean from DDL or its predecessors, not independent bottlers, which have been releasing such rums from specific stills at least from the 1960s.
