Six years ago, while staying at a hostel in Villa de Leyva, Colombia, I met a girl from France who was living in Norway and traveling with her dog.
She showed me this hidden hike just outside the town, and we took photos of each other among the Mars-like rocks. I never saw her again — but I’ve often wondered where life took her.
Now, I’m back in Villa de Leyva to hike the same trail, and it still feels like another planet. The orange cliffs, the dramatic formations, and the silence of this place make it one of the most unique landscapes I’ve ever seen in Colombia.
