"Du kom med alt det der var dig" is what the song is mostly known as, but it's actually called "Forelskelsessang", meaning 'song about falling in love', and it is one of the most popular songs to sing in Denmark.
The writer of the song, Jens Rosendal, wrote this song in 1981, which was the same year as he met the subject of the song, and he supposedly wrote it in 30 minutes!
It gained popularity despite nobody knowing it's unusual backstory.
The song was met with some controversy though, when it was being admitted to "Højskolesangbogen", the most widespread songbook in Denmark, the Songbook Committee was not sure about the two last verses, saying they felt unnatural and contrived, supposedly because of the heavy religiosity, but Rosendal would not have it, having been raised an extremely religious man. His song had five verses, and God loving everybody, even people like Rosendal himself, was an important part of the song.
Jens Rosendal had married a woman, he even had children with her, presuming that he could fix a part of himself (he does not quite word it like this, but YouTube would not like how he worded it) because this woman was at least better than other ones, but at some point he realized this "fix" was not possible. During an interview, he was asked if he could name the girl the song was about, and then he heard himself say "No, I can't do that. It is not about a girl, it is about a guy."
Coming from an incredibly religious background, people started talking a lot about him, but that was the way it was. Years later, he is quoted as having said this about his situation, "Maybe I could have lived with my secret, but I could not die with it."
For anybody that's curious, the name of the man whom this song is about, is Ulrik. He spent 20 years with Jens (until Ulrik's death) and made Jens feel not only loved and loving for the first, but also made him feel like a real complete human.
God bless.
Performed by DR Pigekoret (Danish Broadcasting Corporation's Choir of Girls) along with the audience on the 2nd of April 2017.

This translation is incredibly raw and not direct, so if you have suggestions for improvements, just leave them in the comments and I might add them to the description. If there is ever demand for it, I might re-release this video with new lyrics (and editing, this is also very raw, I am not that good at it yet)
Any questions about how this song is supposed to be understood are welcome, it can be quite hard to understand something poetic translated to another language, so don't feel bad.
