Residents of Lamu Island have complained to the Kenya Wild life Service officials over attacks on their donkeys by wild animals within the Island causing them serious loss. More than 200 donkeys are said to have so far been attacked in the past two years.
The residents claim hyenas and lions find their way through a forest at Mpeketoni to the Island to feast on their donkeys.
Yahya Shee alias Basode who is also County Assembly member for Mkomani ward visited the area and condemned the the laxity of KWS officials.
