Michaela Honing was a semi-finalist in the 2025 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. Michaela presented their research, “Why the long pause: Understanding the neutral control of episodic breathing.”
Michaela’s research explores the root causes of episodic breathing to better understand sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and its underlying mechanisms.
Michaela Honing is completing their MSc in Zoology in the Department of Zoology under the supervision of Dr. William Milsom.
#3MT is an academic competition that assists current graduate students with fostering effective presentation and communication skills. Participants have just three minutes to explain the breadth and significance of their research project to a non-specialist audience.
