[4K] Castle Park Walk in Germany, Düsseldorf Angermund 2020 - Nature Ambience

In this video I will take a bicycle ride and walk through Western Germany, Castle Heltorf in Dusseldorf Angermund while wearing a mask. This tour offers a great way to virtually enjoy Castle Heltorf's beautiful park on a sunny spring day during the COVID19 outbreak. You will see many people obeying social distancing rules, which is fairly impressive. I am starting this slow ride and walk tour close to the entrance of Castle Heltorf's Dusseldorf (Western Germany), then taking a relaxing and slow bicycle ride beside the beautiful sea of flowers. After that I will enter the castle's park and show you different sights. Heltorf Castle is located in the Düsseldorf district of Angermund in the north of the city on the Angerbach and on the city limits of Duisburg. It is surrounded by an English landscape garden.
The castle was built to administer the agricultural and forestry estates in the area. It is a moated castle. Forestry has been practised in the area since the 12th century. Heltorf is first mentioned in the 11th century as Hof Helethorpe in the pension register of the monastery Kaiserswerth.

Early owners were the lords of Heldorp. Otto von Heldorp is already mentioned in 1167 as the owner of Heltorf Castle. Furthermore, he appears in the document of about 1189, in which nobleman Arnold von Teveren pledged his entire property on the right bank of the Rhine to Holthausen, Düsseldorf, Buscherhof, Eickenberg near Millrath, Monheim, Himmelgeist, on the banks of the Rhine near Holthausen and on the Anger for 100 marks to Engelbert von Berg.

In 1360 Heltorf was sold by Adolf von Graschafund to his wife Jutta von Stein to Thomas von Lohausen called Troisdorf and his wife Aleide von Geynhoven. In this family, which later called itself von Troisdorf, Heltorf remained for 5 to 6 generations until the heir's daughter Maria, daughter of Sibert von Troisdorf, brought it into her marriage with Wilhelm von Scheid called Weschpfennig in 1569.

The castle park is laid out as an English forest park, in the centre is the castle pond. The idea of creating the garden in the English style came from the French Abbé Biarelle in 1796 and was carried out by Maximilian Weyhe in 1803. Special features of the garden at that time are exotic trees and shrubs, such as the second oldest rhododendron plantation in Germany, which is worth seeing. The park covers an area of 54 hectares.
