On the 25th October 2013 at 2.30pm, Rob Wassell spoke at the Village Hall in Ferring about the lighthouses of Beachy Head.
As a local writer living in Ferring, Rob was asked to speak at his local village hall for the Ferring Conservation Group about his involvement with the lighthouses of Beachy Head. Rob's talk together with accompanying slideshow covered everything from the formation of the chalk cliffs through to shipwrecks and the need for lighthouses in the first place. Leading on to automation of the Beachy Head lighthouse and the recent Save the Stripes campaign. Including Belle Tout and its fascinating history right up to the modern day as a luxury Bed and Breakfast.
The lighthouses of Beachy Head are very close to Rob's heart. Having devoted years to research and being involved with both lighthouses personally as part of the Belle Tout Preservation Trust and a committed member of the Save the Stripes campaign he talks with passion and devotion for these two lighthouses.
Rob has also produced two books, The Story of the Belle Tout Lighthouse and the Story of the Beachy Head Lighthouse and did a book signing at the end of the talk.
