Several Injured in Historic South Central Structure Fire

HISTORIC SOUTH CENTRAL, LOS ANGELES, Calif., Oct. 3 (KNN)– The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on the 2600 block of South Maple Avenue around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Firefighters arrived and observed smoke emanating from a two-story multi-family dwelling.
Crews were informed that there might be people trapped inside the home. They launched an aggressive attack and successfully located several individuals within the residence. One man was spotted on the second floor, prompting firefighters to position a ladder against the building to assist him in climbing down to safety.
In total, six people were rescued from the home. Two individuals were transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation, while the others were evaluated on the scene.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
