Our story begins in 1892, when nine visionary women founded our hospital to care for local children. Today, in that very same location, our main campus now stretches several city blocks through Columbus, Ohio’s south side. On campus, you’ll find three buildings that house our top-NIH funded research facility, the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Our research capabilities are growing so rapidly, we’re adding a fourth building.

Adjacent to the Research Institute is our Faculty Office Building - a state-of-the-art, 6-story, 165-thousand square foot facility. And just down the block our 6-story Livingston Ambulatory Center- providing care to more than 100-thousand children a year, in need of outpatient services.

And because we know children’s mental health is as just as important as their physical health, we proudly built our nine-story Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion as a centerpiece of our main campus. A symbol of hope for the 1 in 5 children living with mental illness, it’s America’s largest behavioral health facility on a pediatric medical campus, and opened in 2020.
