TWO DAVID joined together to sing Pink Floyd's Confortably Numb during David Gilmour's On an Island tour show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on May 29th, 2006. David Bowie then sang the Doctor's part of the famous The Wall classic Confortably Numb.
For David Bowie, it was a little ironic to sang the Doctor's lyrics since two years before an onstage near-heart attack ended Bowie’s Reality Tour.
The night of the show, very few people knew that Bowie was in London. It was a big surprise for the Royal Albert Hall crowd to see Bowie appears on stage to first sing a 1967 Pink Floyd classic “Arnold Layne”, then to join David Gilmour on a fantastic version of “Comfortably Numb.”
The David Gilmour and David Bowie duet was the very last time that Bowie performed in England. Bowie died 10 years later in January 2016.
