A climber presses his cell phone against his ear as he speaks to his wife in Dallas, Texas, over 2,000 miles away. The cold from the snow cave wall seeps through his jacket. His right shoulder screams every time he shifts position. His fingers are starting to go numb.
"I'm cold," he manages to say. "And wet. And weak." Outside the cave entrance, the wind howls at over 100 miles per hour. His two climbing partners left this cave days ago, descending into that storm to get help. They haven't come back.

Just three nights ago, he was warm, sitting by a fire in a cabin. Now he's trapped in a snow cave, alone, waiting for help that hasn't come.
