I am Der Geher and the Bunker St. Pauli has recently been reopened. Time to explore this green bunker. From the Feldstraße stop, the path leads to the bunker and up the outside ramp to the very top. The route offers views of Hamburg and many of the sights. One floor below, the former anti-aircraft gun emplacements can be viewed and there is a wealth of information. Finally, the ramp leads back to the station.
Built by forced labor from reinforced concrete between 1942 and 1944, the high-rise bunker was built with mounted anti-aircraft guns. With a floor area of 75x75m and 3.5m thick walls, the bunker offered space for 18,000 people. Only after the Cold War was its function as a bunker abandoned and a media center moved in. There was a music club and a concert hall. A green extension and a hotel gave the bunker its current appearance. The platform was opened on July 5, 2024.
