This Köhler vibrating shuttle sewing machine was produced in East Germany, Altenburg in about 1952. The Rotoschillo drives an arm rock shaft, that via a Pitman rod drives the vibrating shuttle.
This Rotoscillo movement was used previously in a vibrating shuttle sewing machine produced by The Free Sewing Machine Company. Free named the movement Rotoscillo from latin "roto" (I revolve) and "oscillo" (I swing). The Free machine also used a similar mechanism for the motion of the needle bar and the take-up lever.
