The Old Baba Mandir is a shrine in Sikkim dedicated to Baba Harbhajan Singh, an Indian Army soldier believed to protect soldiers at the border. Located at an altitude of about (13,000) feet near Kupup Village and the Nathula Pass, it is the actual bunker where he was posted before he went missing in 1968. Visitors need to climb about 50 stairs to reach it.
This ride took me through one of the most peaceful and surreal stretches in East Sikkim - nathang Valley, often called the “Switzerland of the East.” Riding through misty mountains, freezing winds, and winding roads at 13,000 ft, I finally reached the Old Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir - a place where faith, soldiers, and stories meet.
