As countries worldwide seek to align economic growth with environmental sustainability, green industrial policies are becoming a cornerstone of inclusive and low-carbon development. Development partners are increasingly supporting such policies to help partner countries transition towards greener, more competitive economies. Yet, practical experiences on how donors can most effectively engage in this space remain limited.
This webinar marks the launch of the new study Donor Support for Green Industrial Policies – Approaches, Case Studies and Lessons Learnt, produced by the DCED Green Growth Working Group (GGWG). The study reviews donor experiences and presents insights from multiple case studies to distill key lessons on how to design and implement effective support for GIPs.
The one-hour session will feature:
A presentation by the study authors, introducing the study design and key findings.
A structured interview with representatives from two featured case studies, illustrating different pathways for supporting green industrial transformation:
Promoting Green Economy in Jordan through evidence-based economic policymaking (GIZ Jordan), and
The Smart Technology and Energy Efficient Production (STEP) project in Egypt (IFC)
An open Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly with the authors and case study practitioners.
The webinar will be moderated by Florian Güldner (GIZ), featuring the lead author on the DCED report, Johanna Klein of GlobalCAD, as well as practitioners: Menan Omar and Dalya Yehia Asaad Ashour (IFC Egypt) and David Musleh (GIZ Jordan).
