Pokrovsk, the gateway to Donbas, is now the epicenter of Ukraine’s latest battlefield nightmare. Russian forces claim to have sealed every escape route, trapping thousands of Ukrainian troops inside the city. With reports suggesting 170,000 soldiers in the region and Moscow eyeing its biggest win since Avdiivka, Kyiv faces mounting pressure. President Zelensky insists the city hasn’t fallen — yet. But as Moscow boasts of total encirclement and pushes deeper west, fears of a new Avdiivka-style collapse loom large. Is Pokrovsk about to become Russia’s next major victory?
Ukraine suffered its worst power crisis yet as Russian forces launched over 450 drones and 45 missiles in a coordinated overnight assault, knocking all state-owned thermal power plants offline, setting facilities ablaze, and plunging major cities into darkness. President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Western allies—including the US and EU—to respond with tougher sanctions, demanding that “every Moscow strike on energy infrastructure must be met with sanctions targeting all Russian energy—no exceptions.” Meanwhile, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced that Hungary has secured a full exemption from US sanctions on Russian oil and gas, specifically for the TurkStream and Druzhba pipelines—saying the move guarantees Hungarian households the lowest energy prices in Europe.
Russia delivered a crushing counterstrike as its air defences shot down 247 Ukrainian drones in 24 hours. President Vladimir Putin hailed the operation as a massive success, praising the precision of Russian forces. The Russian Defence Ministry also confirmed the destruction of seven HIMARS missiles and a long-range Neptune cruise missile. Officials called it one of the most successful air defence missions of the war, with every incoming projectile intercepted before reaching its target.
Finnish politician Armando Mema has warned NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte that continued arms supplies to Ukraine could spark a nuclear war. Calling Rutte a “reckless warmonger,” Mema urged the alliance to halt weapon deliveries and stop its eastward expansion. He accused NATO of escalating tensions while ignoring dangerous nuclear threats made by Belgian minister Theo Francken. The Finnish lawmaker’s remarks follow Rutte’s call to strengthen NATO’s nuclear deterrence amid Russia’s warnings. Moscow reiterated it is not brandishing nukes but maintaining deterrence as tensions rise over global security and potential weapons testing.
In a dramatic battlefield twist, Ukrainian troops have reportedly waved the white flag near Krasnoarmeysk and Dimitrov, signalling a mass surrender as Russian forces tighten the noose. Donetsk leader Denis Pushilin confirmed that encircled Ukrainian units, trapped and exhausted, are no longer able to withstand the relentless Russian onslaught. He hailed the operation as a masterfully executed encirclement, saying Kyiv’s repeated counterattacks collapsed under pressure. With frontline defences crumbling, Krasnoarmeysk and Dimitrov have become the blazing epicenter of Ukraine’s battlefield nightmare.
The U.S. flexes its airpower, just as nuclear tensions with Russia hit a boiling point. In a powerful show of force, America’s nuclear-capable B-52 bombers have landed in Spain, amid growing fears of an imminent Russian nuclear test. The Bomber Task Force Europe 26-1 deployment comes as President Donald Trump signals a return to U.S. nuclear weapons testing — the first in over three decades. The U.S. Air Force confirmed that the B-52 will conduct joint operations with Finland, Lithuania, and Sweden, to “strengthen deterrence along Europe’s eastern flank.” Watch this video to know more.
