The Metropolitan Opera has announced its 2025-26 season.

New Productions:

The season opens on Sunday with Mason Bates and Gene Scheer’s “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay” in its Met Opera premiere. Bartlett Sher directs, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts a cast that includes Lauren Snouffer, Sun-Ly Pierce, Miles Mykkanen, Patrick Carfizzi, Craig Colclough, and Andrzej Filoncyzk.

Rolando Villazón directs “La Sonnambula” with Nadine Sierra, Sydney Mancasola, Xabier Anduaga, and Alexander Vinogradov. Riccardo Frizza conducts.

Lisette Oropesa headlines Charles Edwards’ new production of “I Puritani,” alongside Lawrence Brownlee, Artur Rucisnki, and Christian Van Horn. Marco Armiliato conducts.

“Tristan und Isolde” kicks off the second half of the season. Lise Davidsen and Michael Spyres star as the lovers with Ekaterina Gubanova, Tomasz Konieczny, and Ryan Speedo Green rounding out the cast. Yuval Sharon directs and Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts.

Performance Dates: March 9 -29, 2026

Kaija Saariaho’s “Innocence” gets its Met premiere. Susanna Mälkki conducts a Simon Stone production and a cast starring Jacquelyn Stucker, Kathleen Kim, Joyce DiDonato Miles Mykkanen, and Rod Gilry, Stephen Milling, Lucy Shelton, Vilma Jää, Beate Mordal, Julie Hega, Simon Kluth, Camilo Delgado Díaz, and Marina Dumont Anastassiadou.

Performance Dates: April 6-29, 2026

Gabriela Lena Frank’s “El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego” is the final new production of the year. Isabel Leonard, Gabriela Reyes, and Nils Wanderer star. Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Steven Osgood share conducting duties.

Revivals

“Turandot” plays throughout the season with the title role divided up by Angela Meade, Rebecca Nash, Anna Pirozzi, and Liudmyla Monastyrska. Joining them are Juliana Grigoryan, Angel Blue, Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, Michael Fabiano, Brian Jagde, Roberto Alagna, John Relyea, Vitalij Kowalkow, and Peixin Chen. Carlo Rizi and Oksana Lynic conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept 23, 2025 – June 4, 2026

“Don Giovanni” is conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Daniele Rustioni. The casts include Federica Lombardi, Guanqun Yu, Janai Brugger, Anita Hartig, Ben Bliss, Paul Appleby, Andrea Carroll, Ryan Speedo Green, Kyle Ketelsen, Adam Plachetka, Tommaso Barea, William Guanbo Su, Brandon Cedel, Solomon Howard, Adam Palka, and Hera Hyesang Park.

“La Bohème” gets 20 performances conducted by Keri-Lynn Wilson, Daniel Rustioni, and Karel Mark Chichon. ”Carmen” stars Isabel Leonard and Aigul Akmetshina in the title role. They are joined by Michael Fabiano and Matthew Polenzani as Don José, and Kristina Mkhitaryan and Jannai Brugger as Micaëla.

Rachel Willis-Sørensen stars in “Arabella” alongside Pavel Breslik, Tomasz Konieczny, and Brindley Sherratt. Nicholas Carter conducts.

Piotr Beczala headlines Giordano’s “Andrea Chenier” alongside Sonya Yoncheva and Igor Golovatenko. Daniele Rustioni conducts.
