For several years I have wanted to take a trip down to New Jersey Transit's Atlantic City Line to catch commuter trains under high-speed diesel power. I got in contact with my buddy Darius (channel below) and together we spent the day in Hammonton NJ catching various trains at several locations. Trains are listed in order below:
1: SRNJ Local WJPV-08 travels eastbound past us at 9th street in Hammonton with MLW M420s 3578 and 800 "sandwiching" a single lumber load.
2: After SRNJ was clear, Eastbound commuter train 4617 flies past us at track speed with Comet V cabcar #6011 leading and GP40PH-2B #4208 shoving at the rear. Also note Comet IV cabcar #5015 acting as a coach behind the power!
3: Sometime later, Westbound commuter 4620 glides downgrade past the signals with GP40PH-2B #4213 on the head end. Comet V #6068 brings up the rear.
4: After moving locations to the Hammonton Station, Eastbound NJT train 4623 stops at the platform for a brief moment before thundering onward with Cabcar #6049 leading and GP40PH-2B #4205 pushing.
5: After noon, train 4627 flies East over our 3rd and final location, Fairview Ave, on its way to Hammonton Station with #6068 leading and #4213 trailing.
6: To end our day, Westbound commuter 4628 gets up to track speed after stopping at the station, screaming over the grade crossing with GP40PH-2B #4205 leading cabcar #6049.
Thanks again to Darius for showing us his spots! Would've been a lot harder without your help!
