Compression testers can sometimes lie & trick you into dismantling your engine unnecessarily. In this video you'll see the differing results given by three methods of connecting the gauge to the engine & see the reason why testing the compression of your CT 110 isn't always as straight forward as it should be. During a compression test on Barney the '81 Honda CT 110 Trail, the gauge initially registered only 90 psi. That can't be right, can it?
Honda manual states :- '77 on CT90 comp ratio 8.2:1, cylinder compression 142 to 170 psi.
'86 CT110 comp ratio 8.5:1, cylinder compression 156 to 199 psi.
Honda states the engine should be warmed up, choke off & throttle open.
