JD Clayton is the epitome of a Real Deal and the singer/songwriter is set to release his debut album Long Way From Home on January 27th, 2023. There's no artifice surrounding the Arkansas-born singer and songwriter. No glitz. No pretension or mythology. There's a refreshing lack of gratuitous posturing or creative. The debut, 10-song offering has a simplicity and sincerity running throughout…earnest lyrics and lived-in vocals are delivered with a balance of warmth and resolve, and his timeless sound has an immediate appeal. Each song shares details inspired by his upbringing, the region where he was raised and looking back on life experiences. Clayton exudes gratitude for what he has and appreciation for what he almost lost. The young songwriter’s perspective shifted over the last few years and with that came a clarity that directed him to the artistic path he needed to be on. This album is the result of his journey.

American singer-songwriter, JD Clayton, was born the son of a preacher-man and an oil painter in a small river city on the Arkansas/Oklahoma border called Fort Smith. He fell deeply in love with music on Sunday mornings while sitting in wooden pews at his church. Later, while attending the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, JD started a band with another student that he met in music appreciation class. He began experimenting with the art of songwriting. It was as if he had just opened up a door to a distant universe. Songwriting became an escape where he could build his own world and all of its fantasies. To help pay for gasoline and the occasional date night, JD started playing shows on the university campus and in local dive bars. After graduating, JD packed his bags, left his roots, and took off for the big city of Nashville, TN. It was in Nashville that he recorded his debut EP 'Smoke out the Fire' which was released in early November of 2018.
