Ingredients Used
For Marination (½ hour):
Chicken – 250 g
Curd – 1 tbsp
Chilli powder – 2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric – ½ tsp
Salt
For Ground Paste:
Oil – 1 tbsp
Onion – 1
Tomato – 3
Salt
Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tbsp
For Cooking:
Oil – 2 tbsp
Homemade chicken masala – 2 tsp
Kashmiri chilli powder – 1 tsp
Marinated chicken
Water as needed
Grounded methi leaves (Kasuri methi)
Step-by-Step Instructions
1️⃣ Marinate
1. Take chicken in a bowl.
2. Add curd, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric and salt.
3. Mix well and rest for 30 minutes.
2️⃣ Prepare the Masala Paste
4. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan
5. Add chopped onion and sauté till soft.
6. Add tomatoes and cook until mushy.
7. Add little salt and 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste.
8. Cool the mixture and grind it into a smooth paste.
3️⃣ Cook the Gravy
9. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a kadai.
10. Add the ground masala paste and sauté until the oil separates.
11. Add homemade chicken masala and Kashmiri chilli powder.
12. Mix well and cook for a minute.
13. Add the marinated chicken and combine thoroughly.
14. Add water as required for gravy consistency.
15. Close the lid and cook until the chicken turns soft.
16. Finally add crushed dry methi leaves and mix well.
17. Cook for 1 more minute and turn off the heat.
