The Foundation was formed following the UEFA Celebration match on 13th March 2007, which marked the 50th anniversary of Manchester United's participation in European competition. A Manchester United side including Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo took on a Europe XI including Zlatan Ibrahimović, Steven Gerrard and Andrea Pirlo and the funds raised went towards setting up Manchester United Foundation. Manchester United Foundation uses the power of football to engage and inspire young people to build a better life for themselves and unite the communities in which they live. Dedicated staff deliver educational and community outreach programmes to help young people make positive choices in their lives.
