Resource Guarding in Dogs and How to Prevent it

Resource guarding in dogs can vary greatly in its severity, and this is why I always encourage dog owners to set about a number of sensible measures to help prevent it in the first place, though I recognise the vast majority of people I discuss this dog behaviour condition with will already be experiencing it and are seeking some help to address it.

In this video, I lay out a number of simple measures that can work both as a preventative measure and help address it if you're already experiencing some problems in this respect.

Keep in mind that this is a behaviour that can vary from very low-level displays, right through to a set of behaviours that are very serious in a dog that is intent on using aggression to keep a hold of a certain item. Dogs that fall in the upper realms of such serious behaviour will need looking at on a consultation. Still, I hope this video gives you a number of ideas that can be easily implemented within the home to regain the calm control you are seeking.
