Relativity #31 - Physical Realisation for Lorentz Boosts

In this video I we will realise the physical consequences of a Lorentz boost, namely that the transformation is between a stationary observer, and observer seen to be moving relatively to that stationary observer with some coordinate velocity. We will realise this by considering how the worldline of each observer appears after the transformation. The worldline of the boosted observer, as viewed in the stationary frame coordinates, will be the worldline that points along the boosted frame time axis, since the boosted observer is stationary in their own frame and simply travel on the timelike worldline. This worldline of the boosted observer then appears to have some coordinate velocity since the axes of the boosted observer are tilted by the boost. We will then realise the formula that v = ct tanh psi, by considering the origin point of the Lorentz transformation. This formula will be useful in upcoming videos for calculating many of the relativistic physical effects that are the result of this boost transformation.
