What is Modeling Scouting ?

Modeling scouting is the process of discovering and identifying individuals with the potential to become models.
Difference Between a Mother Agency & a Booking Agency

Both mother agencies and booking agencies play important roles in a model’s career, but they function differently.

1. Mother Agency
A mother agency is the first agency that discovers, trains, and develops a model’s career. They act as mentors and guide models in the industry.

✅ Key Responsibilities:
Help models *build their portfolio* and prepare for castings.
Find the best international or national agencies** to represent the model.
Take care of contracts and ensure fair payments.
Provide industry insights, networking opportunities, and career advice.

✅ How They Work:
A mother agency *does not always book jobs directly* but helps the model *get signed with multiple agencies worldwide* (e.g., in Paris, New York, London).
They usually take a *percentage of the model’s earnings* from future bookings (around 10-20%).
The model can stay with them for years while working with different agencies.

✅ Example:
If you are signed with a *mother agency in Mumbai**, they might help you get signed with an agency in **Paris, New York, or London* for international opportunities.
Agencies like *IMG Models, Elite, or Wilhelmina* often act as mother agencies for fresh models.

2. Booking Agency (Management or Placement Agency)**
A *booking agency* (also called a management or placement agency) is responsible for *finding and booking jobs* for a model.

✅ Key Responsibilities:
Get models *work in fashion shows, ad campaigns, catalogs, TV commercials, and editorials.*
Handle *negotiations, payments, and contracts* for each job.
Ensure the model’s schedule is well-managed with **castings and bookings**.
They *only represent models for jobs* and do not focus on long-term career planning.

✅ How They Work:
A booking agency earns *commission per job* (usually 15-25%).
Models can *work with multiple booking agencies* in different cities at the same time.

✅ Example:
If you sign with a *booking agency in Mumbai**, they will book you for **print ads, fashion shows, or brand shoots* in India.
If you later move to **London**, you may sign with another booking agency there.

Which One Do You Need as a Fresher?**
If you *want long-term guidance* and international opportunities, you should *look for a mother agency* first.
If you *just want to start working locally* in Mumbai, you can *approach booking agencies* for quick modeling gigs.
