"Nisha Noor" is based on a true story of an actress, Noor Nisha. She was popular for her roles in the Tamil and Malayalam films. She was at the peak of her career during 1980 to 1986 but got sick and lost everything overnight and she became a beggar and died in 2007 of AIDS.
